13/12/16 Singing Lesson 11

Again today we were with the year 1s and went over “Let it snow” for Haughley Barns gain for the entire lesson. They want us to be off book and we still can’t pitch some of our notes. I’m just fed up of the disorganisation considering it will be really hard to know the song off by heart in two days because of the amount of times the notes change or it changes key.

  1. Sophia, I think you might have unrealistic expectations of how long professionally you would have to work on a song if you write “I’m just fed up of the disorganisation considering it will be really hard to know the song off by heart in two days because of the amount of times the notes change or it changes key.” The singers for ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ have 6 days each week to learn up to 18 songs to a professional standard.
You are on the Musical Theatre pathway and, if you intend to pursue a career in this field, will need to challenge your own ideas about what is possible or not. You should also consider who is leading you on this task, it is Paul Schofield, a professional composer and Musical Director, who will be much more aware of what can be achieved and what not in the time than you and who also wants to stretch and challenge you so that you learn and don’t just stay in your comfort zone.
